Call for Design Submissions: Public Art Project for Electrical Boxes

The Downtown Huntsville Business Improvement Area is excited to announce an opportunity for local artists to contribute to an upcoming public art project! We are inviting all artists and residents of our community to submit their designs for painting electrical boxes located in downtown Huntsville.

Project Overview:

We are seeking original, vibrant, and creative designs that capture the spirit of Huntsville. The selected artists will have the opportunity to paint their own designs directly onto one of four electrical boxes throughout the downtown area, contributing to the beautification of our public spaces.

Incentive:

Selected artists will receive a fee of $500 for each completed electrical box., providing an exciting opportunity to showcase their talent while contributing to the beautification of downtown Huntsville.

Who Can Submit:

• Applicants must reside in the Town of Huntsville

Design Guidelines:

• Designs should be bold, creative, and appropriate for public spaces.

• Artwork must be suitable for outdoor exposure and visible to a wide audience.

• Submissions should reflect the community’s character, culture, and vibrancy.

Submission Instructions:

• Submit your design by May 16, 2025 at 4:00pm

• Please include a brief description of your design and the inspiration behind it.

• Digital submissions or scanned copies of sketches are preferred.

Selection Process:

Each selected design will be featured on one of the electrical boxes, and the artist will receive $500 for their work. This is a unique opportunity for artists from different backgrounds to showcase their talent and contribute to the beautification of our downtown area.

Painting Weeks:

Artists must specify in their application which of the 2 designated weeks they will be available to paint.
